1974

Our founder Late Mr. Mangalore Achutha Rao ( Ex- factory manager Killick Nixon Ltd) started small assembly workshop to manufacture Concrete Poker Vibrators, screed vibrators, table vibrators for pre cast industry. The company was named Buildwell Engineering & Construction Company (BECC), located in Chembur a suburb in Mumbai.

All the equipments were sold through dealer network covering all important states in India. Leading constructions companies patronized Buildwell equipments for their Infrastructural projects such as Shapoorji Pallonji Co Ltd; Afcons Ltd, Gammon India Ltd; Shah Constructions Limited, Recondo Limited, Continental Ltd ; Essar Constructions Ltd,and many of the leading companies in those years.

Shapoorji Pallonji Co ltd used Buildwell Vibrators on their Muscat Royal Palace project, Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai; Taj Intercontinental project, Mumbai; Telco factory project, Pune etc.

Buildwell vibrators were used on several important projects such as Bhakra Nangal Dam, Almatti Dam; Narmada Canal project; Farraka Barrage project; Large Jetty project in Uran and Goa; Mangalore Port;

1979

Our current Managing Director Mr. Ashok A Rao completed his Engineering graduation and joined his father our Late Founder as an apprentice in the workshop. His duties were to use the radial drilling machine, welding, spray painting etc. Later he was shifted to the assembly department, testing etc. Finally he was handling all the dealers and service.

1982

Our Current M.D started his own company named Buildwell Machines India (BMI) to manufacture Concrete Mixing and Lifting equipment such as Tilting Drum Concrete Mixers, Non Tilting Drum Concrete Mixers, Builder’s Tower Hoist, Mini Concrete batching Plants, special vibrating equipments for Canal slopes. This company is still operating and manufacturing these machines. Currently the Penta 750E Reverse Discharge Drum mixers with inbuilt weighing system are the top selling machines. BMI has exported these machines to Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Bangladesh, Nepal, Jordan in the past. Currently we are concentrating more on the Indian market.

1989

BMI expanded manufacturing activities to cover Concrete Mixing Plants with computerized control system, Designing & Fabrication of heavy engineering machines and systems to custom requirement. A large factory ( 30,000 sqft built up, 2 acres of open land) was constructed in Baikampady Industrial Zone, New Mangalore, Karnataka.

1995

During the year 1990 to 1993 Indian economy took a turn upwards with the open border policy adapted by the then Finance Minister Mr. Manmohan Singh. BMI seized this opportunity to understand that the Indian market will need special construction equipments to meet the new tender conditions and large projects. Indian construction equipment manufacturing was not exposed to International competition nor the local equipments were reliable because of heavy import duty on imported components. Our Current M.D. Mr. Ashok A Rao contacted several companies based in USA, Italy, Germany etc for tie up for sale of their equipments in India. He personally traveled to most of these companies, met their owners and understood whether they were keen for long term association and were ready to face the hardship of selling into a new market with many government restrictions. With experience of 20 years Mr. Rao managed to tie up with the following companies:

     M/s. O Cuoghi SAS, Modena, Italy…..manufacturing Concrete Plants from 45 cum-hr to 240 cum-hr.

     M/s. DIECI Srl. Italy..manufacturing special low bed tunnel dumpers, telescopic handlers etc.

     M/s. QIC KERBER, Australia…..small kerbing machines.

     M/s. POWER CURBERS INC, USA….large kerb, gutter and barrier slipforming machines.

     M/s. POWER PAVERS INC. USA…manufacturing 2 Track slipform pavers and Texture cure machines.

     M/s. GUNTERT & ZIMMERMAN INC. USA.. manufacturing large professional 4 trak Concrete Slipform pavers with
     DBI,Texture Cure Machines, Mobile Concrete Plants etc.

M/s. ALLEN Engineering Co. USA. Manufacturing equipments for testing, finishing and construction of concrete flooring and pavements. Tripe Tube Roller Form riding Pavers for concrete roads etc.

Considering the need for a bigger organization and inclusion of several key persons as Directors it was decided to form a new company and we named it ALLEN BUILDWELL PRIVATE LIMITED.(ABPL) to have exclusive tie up ( Indian sub continent) with these foreign based companies..

ABPL CURRENTLY HAVE MAINTAINED THE TIE UPS WITH ALL THE ABOVE COMPANIES WHICH SPEAKS VOLUMES FOR THE TEAM WORK AND TRUST BETWEEN ALL OF US.

Our brief foray into piling rigs: For a brief period ABPL were representing M/S. MAIT SRL. ITALY. The first 3nos HR 130, HR 180 MAIT rigs were sold in India through ABPL to customers such as Valecha Engg. Ltd, Gammon India Ltd. Later it was a very strategic decision taken by our Directors to discontinue selling Piling equipments to concentrate ABPL activities to Concrete Mixing, transporting, laying, spreading, finishing and curing.

2009

ABPL diversified into Hiring of Concrete paving equipments. Currently we own the following machines:

1. 1 set G&Z S850 Quadra 4 track slipform concrete paver with automatic DBI inserter and Textire Cure machine.
2. 1 no. Power Curber 5700C, Slipform concrete kerbing, barrier and v drain machine.
3. 1 no. Allen 255CD TRTP, 18ft with Gang Vibration machine for Concrete paving.

These machines have been deployed at various job sites in India including the V Drain project at Yamuna Expressway project in Noida to Agra; NTPC road work at Korba; NHAI concrete road project from Cuttack to Paradeep, Odisha.; MCD road project in New Delhi; Apron project MIHAN, Mumbai airport etc.
